In additions to some great fishing we have some of the top beaches in the nation spreading from as far south as Anna Maria to all the way to to Clear water beach. Top places to fish in Tampa Bay is right here.

Snook is a top targeted fish in Tampa Bay

Snook is one of my favorite fish and Tampa Bay has some of the best Snook fishing around. Sizes range from 16 to 45 inches with the average fish settling in at 22 inches. Snook fishing is very popular to the bass guys because they resemble a bass but get bigger and fight harder. So if you are a bass fisherman go ahead and get your next Tampa fishing charter on the books. You will love Snook fishing.

Redfish is another fish to catch

Red fish is another dandy and the west central Florida is no slouch when it comes to Red fish. With miles of flats and back country its not uncommon to see a big school of 300 fish milling down the flat in search of some type of meal. You will also find success underneath the Mangroves that cover Tampa Bay. Red-fish are here year round but some of the best months to target the big breeder fish are around September and October.

Grouper are a top targeted fish

Grouper is another big fish that we target here in the Tampa Bay area. Most people typically think that Grouper are an offshore fish and they are, but we also have a great Gag Grouper fishery in the bay. Its a blast targeting Shallow water Grouper. We can catch them year round but reason opens June 1st so they become a highly targeted fish in the summer. If you like a strong pulling fish then you need to do some Grouper fishing in Tampa Bay.. The silver King

The Silver King is another great fish for Tampa Bay. While most of our Tarpon fishing is from May to July we do have fish that Rome Tampa Bay year round. The migration fish the run the beaches run from May to the end of June. These fish are easy to find as they are aggressively rolling up and down the beaches. The bay fish tend to be at there best around the July to October time frame. These fish can be in excess of 200 lbs and the Little Manatee and Hillsborough rivers  will hold the baby Tarpon in the 10 to 30 lbs range. Both are a blast and will give you the adrenaline rush that fisherman dream of.  Its a true blessing to call Tampa Bay home my entire life and I enjoy having the opportunity to show people some of its best qualities. Tight lines!

October Fishing Looking good For Tampa Fishing Charters

October Fishing Looking good For Tampa Fishing Charters

October Fishing Looking good For Tampa Fishing Charters

October Fishing Looking good For Tampa Fishing Charters despite the doom and gloom reports. Fishing has been very productive in the bay. Fishing in the clean areas have been good. October is a month of change for just about every inshore species as weather cools off. It’s a good time of year to get out and do some fishing.

Snook looking good for Tampa Bay this month

Snook fishing for me will be the go to this month. You should start to see a push of fish into the flats and with the first cold fronts you will see bait on the flats start to thin out and more fish start to feed. Good places to start targeting are cuts and potholes on the flats. Another key element would be the change of tide heights in addition to  to north winds. As we see the fronts move in you will have more winds out of the north. With this you can expect lower tides which will push fish into the potholes and deeper areas on the flats. Working these same areas will in fact be very successful, therefore Snook fishing will be good. October fishing in Tampa looks great this month, I really like fishing these winter low tides.

Fishing for Redfish looks fantastic in October

October fishing charters for Red fishing  looks good. Schools of fish will show up regularly on the new and full moons. Bait of choice for Reds would have to be artificial on the big schools of fish. One of my favorite options would have to be the Zman Minnowz with a ⅜ jig head for distance on your cast. Live bait is also a good option if you are working a flat for single fish. Another great tip is to work the mullet schools. Reds also like to hang out with the big schools of mullet if you don’t find that big school of Reds. Sometimes the fish will spread out so I like working the potholes as mentioned above also work well for Red fish.

Trout fishing some of the best of the year

Trout fishing throughout the summer is not very productive due to extreme water temps. October is the month that it all changes as water begins to cool down extremely. October Fishing Looking good for Tampa fishing charters for Tout. They start to move onto the outer flats and creeks and really get active. You can’t go wrong working a Mirrolure top dog at daybreak on the flats. Trout are suckers for surface disturbance and I really like  great combo would have to be a Cajun Thunder float matched with Ohero 25 lb Fluorocarbon leader and a Daichii wide gap circle hook. I really like October Trout fishing this time of year, its very productive and a blast.

Best Tampa fishing of December

Best Tampa Fishing Of December

Best Tampa fishing of December

Best fishing of December. How is that possible? Well wintertime in Florida is a little different than the rest of the US. As cold fronts blast other parts of the united states Tampa Bay, Florida has some great weather and even better fishing.Cold fronts will dictate fishing through the end of the year

I can’t believe that we are in the last month of the year. December of 2017 is upon us and while this is one of my favorite months to fish it
will be controlled by weather.

December cold fronts dictate  Tampa fishing

As cold fronts become more frequent
and harsh fishing is dictated more by weather. Changing Barometer is
the key to catching fish and with cold fronts hitting us every week
planning your trips around them is the biggest factor between fishing
and catching. Changing Barometer is a great time to fish as this
creates the fish to feed better. North winds and bluebird skies
typically is a recipe for a slow day. Picking your days around this
will be key to catching fish.

Planning your fishing trips around weather

Want the best Tampa fishing of December?  When you plan around the weather you can
expect that.  Awesome Snook fishing around the rivers, docks, and creeks this time of year. Snook start to move into the protected areas. These areas provide warmth for them to survive throughout the winter. During this time you can expect some awesome Snook fishing but you will need to fish around the weather.

Where to find bait when fishing in Tampa Bay?

Greenbacks are key but can be work as bait moves to
deeper water. Good places to look are around the towers, markers and
any other structure in deeper water. Key things for catching bait in the winter are a heavy cast net and plenty of chum. Bait typically moves to deeper water and tends to hold to structure. My preference on nets is a Black Pearl 12 foot net to ensure for fast sink rates. Catching bait is the first and most important key to fishing in Tampa Bay during the winter time.

Whats biting when fishing Tampa Bay?

Trout, Sheepshead,Redfish, and Snook are some of our main targeted and make for great fishing in Tampa. Lets give you a report on each species…

Trout fishing has also taken off as water temperatures drop. The grass flats on the South Shore has been very productive with both artificial and live baits. You will find plenty of success with a little planning this time of year.

Snook as mentioned above are great during December. As long as we can catch Greenbacks in the net you will find Snook biting. Once the baits disappears so do the Snook. Rule of thumb for Snook fishing is they hang around until the 2nd week of January.

Sheepshead are great as we hit the peak if winter. This is during the times of January into February. Sheepshead have their yearly spawn and become very plentiful.  They also make for some great eating and seasons are open during this time of year.

Redfish are also good during the winter months in Tampa Bay. mall schools group up on the flats during winter time fishing in Tampa. They are a blast to target but can be easily spooked off with the clear water during this time of year.
