Tarpon Fishing Will Dominate The Inshore Waters For May and June

Published May 3rd, 2014 by Capt Jason Prieto

May brings some great inshore fishing in the Tampa Bay areas and while just about every species but have to be tops on the list for the months of May and June. Tarpon for the most part are a migratory fish as they move up the gulf coast every year and their stop in the Tampa area this time of year. Tarpon are pound for pound of the best fighting fish in the ocean and sizes range from 50 to 200lbs. Tarpon typically run along the beaches, passes, and bridges that are around Tampa Bay. It’s not uncommon to see those just feet off the beach first thing in the morning as they breach the surface and gulp up oxygen. Tarpon fishing is typically catch and release but is a fish of a lifetime to catch and I promise you will not be disappointed when you battle with the silver king of the bay.
