September is here and while it's still extremely hot, Tampa fishing has been decent. Reds typically steal the show this month as the big schools group up to spawn. While schools haven't been as consistent as a few years back, there are still some good fish to be caught. Mixed in with the Reds, you'll find some monster Jack Crevalle which make for a great fight. Don't forget to have your favorite artificial bait tied up as these schools are typically fast and furious. They will eat anything you have; the key is to be able to make long casts as the schools are on the run.

Snook fishing will remain strong this month and with the first cool down will only make Tampa fishing better. Look for areas on the outer flats as fish look to transition for fall. Bait of choice would be Greenbacks, but I've also done well with Pinfish. This is also a great time of year for the big breeders as they start to get active and make their way into the flats. For those that have not caught Snook, you are missing out on a Florida jewel. The best comparison would have to be a largemouth Bass, but they are bigger and stronger. So on your next Tampa Fishing Charter, make sure to get your Snook fishing fix; it will be a great fishing charter you won't forget.

Mangrove Snapper are also holding strong inside Tampa Bay. We have had plenty of fish caught with smaller bait still around. While most people consider Grouper to be an offshore species, we catch plenty of Grouper on Tampa Fishing Charters. Gag grouper live inside Tampa Bay year-round and are as good as it gets to catch and eat. Book your next Fishing Charter inside Tampa Bay and see what bay fishing is all about.

As we approach the latter part of the month, things should start to cool down. When the cool down happens, you will start to see fish shift towards the fall transition. Fish will move to the potholes, oyster bars, and cuts in the back-country. You will also start to notice the lower tides during this time of year inside Tampa Bay. This is a great time to fish the edges and potholes just adjacent to the surrounding flats.
