Captain Jason Prieto is a Tampa Bay native and still resides in the area. He has spent his entire life in Tampa fishing the surrounding areas. In 2004 he decided to take his love for Tampa fishing and make it a job and share his passion with others and become a Tampa fishing guide. This was the beginning of Steady Action Fishing Charters INC where he runs his Tampa fishing Charters.
In addition to being a being a full time Tampa Bay fishing guide for 15 years, he also wrote monthly reports for Gaff Magazine, the Tampa Tribune, Tampa Times, Parrish News, and Saltwater Angler. Captain Jason has also had the pleasure of guiding guys like Frank Sageant, Bill Miller and the Reel Animals on featured TV shows and newspaper articles.
In 2006, he enjoyed Tampa fishing and teaching so much he took his knowledge to the airwaves as he was Co Host to Outdoor fishing Adventures that aired weekly on 1040 ESPN. As times changed Captain Jason and his partners decided to take the radio program to social media. He continued the show on Facebook and YouTube to give the audience a better platform to learn. This show still runs weekly today every Monday evening on Facebook and YouTube at 7 to 8pm.
Tournament fishing was something Captain Jason also wanted to do as he got older. Being a full time Tampa fishing guide enabled him to pursue his dream to fish amongst the best anglers in the nation. Captain Jason has been on top of the fishing tournament circuit with some of the best names in the industry. Some of his top finishes have been 1st place IFA Redfish Clearwater and 2016 Team of The Year IFA followed by a bunch of top 10 and top 20 finishes. He and his partner Brian Visnovec have also been ranked #16 out of the top 48 teams in the nation and qualified to fish the Redfish World Series 2019. Captain Jason says one of the keys to his success in tournaments is a longtime friend and tournament partner Brian Visovec. Brian works very hard to find fish and puts in long hours and extra days pre-fishing. Brian and Jason’s dedication and commitment over the past 5 years has put them on top of the leader boards and they seem to get better every year. Captain Jason also feels strong about the long-standing friendship and says this is a critical part of their success. Good partners for tournament fishing a key component to being competitive in any tournament circuits.
