January Offering Up Some Great Spring Fishing!

Published January 13th, 2013 by Capt Jason Prieto

January starts off the New Year, and so far we have been blessed with warm, sunny weather for 2013. This warm weather has really sparked spring-like fishing, and with water temperatures hovering at 70 degrees right now, there is no turning back. Trout is typically our target fish for January as we throw artificial baits on the pristine flats of Tampa Bay. This, mixed in with some great sheepshead fishing, is our normal January fishing. But as of late, we have seen plenty of BIG snook hanging around the creek and river banks, soaking up the heat. This is a BIG surprise for this time of year, as most snook move toward our freshwater springs when the water gets too cold. Another surprise has been the bigger redfish that have moved onto the flats. This is typically something that happens in March, but warmer weather has moved fishing forward. Tampa offers lots of great activities, from theme parks to some of the best beaches on the coast. It also offers some of the greatest fishing Florida has to offer, so do yourself a favor and book a fishing charter. COME SEE WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT! If you are interested in booking a fishing trip on Tampa Bay, it is just a phone call away. 813-727-9890
