April Tarpon Fishing In Warmer Tampa Bay Waters

Published April 13th, 2011 by Capt Jason Prieto

Well, April is here and good weather is at its peak. Water temperature is in the upper 70s and fishing is as good as it gets. Tarpon fishing is just around the corner, and we are already seeing a few fish showing up on the flats. I expect the big schools of migrating fish to start showing their faces along the beaches and bridges of Tampa Bay. We will also start to see these fish invading our passes in search of the pass crabs, which flow with the strong tides that coincide with the weeks around the new and full moons. Tarpon is a fish that requires both skill and patience, but the fight they produce is well worth it. Most of our migrating fish should start to show up at the end of April and hang around until the end of June. We also have resident fish which live here year-round. I like to target these fish inside Tampa Bay from July until October. Fishing in Tampa is great, especially for tarpon, and now is the time to book your tarpon trip. 813-727-9890
