Fishing this time of year is just spectacular. Things start to heat up, water temperature creeps into the high seventies and so does the weather. Although our snook population is still down, I’m starting to see the stocks replenish with more fish in there typical areas for this time of year. Trout fishing has been the best I have ever seen and they are eating just about anything in site both live bait and artificial. I have really done well with the DOA Cal Shad baits. Red fish are really starting to school up on the flats in big numbers. Finally the big breeders are pushing in and we are see fish in exceeds of 3o inches. Live greenbacks have been a good bait choice but don’t forget to try some cut lady fish or pin fish. Last is the tarpon. We should start to see good numbers roaming the beaches and passes of Tampa Bay starting in may and staying all the way until July. Tarpon are one of the most incredible fish to battle with. IT IS A BATTLE OF A LIFETIME! Now is the time to get out there and do some fishing, weather is good and fishing is even better.
