April is here and while fishing charters in Tampa Bay has been good we have had a late run of cold fronts that has made for some weird flats fishing patterns and have moved fish from day to day. We went from 80-degree water at the end of February fishing down to as low as 59 degrees in March. This has made for some crazy Tampa fishing charters. April is here and that typically means great weather. Snook fishing inshore remains the top producer with just about every creek full of smaller male fish and the occasional linesider mixed in. Greenbacks have been the choice of bait and are still holding good in the deeper water around the markers and bridges around Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay Redfish remain very hit or miss but as water warms I suspect that the schooling fish with start to show up. The big news for April is Tarpon season for Tam pa fishing starts. While it’s still a little early you can expect to find the Sliver, King roaming the outer Tampa flats and along the bridges. Good signs of Tarpon showing up are big bait pods of Threadfin Herring just off the beaches and bridges that surround Tampa and St Petersburg. Tarpon are one of my favorite and really enjoy watching customers catch a fish of a lifetime. Stay posted to our blog for weekly Tampa fishing reports. Tightlines
